Captain Adam Frank
Captain Adam Frank is a U.S.C.G. Master Captain (100 Ton) with over 40 years of boating and fishing experience on the waters of the South Shore of Long Island. His love for the ocean began at a young age, fishing alongside his grandfather—early experiences that sparked a lifelong passion and deep respect for the sea.
Through decades spent running boats and chasing fish, Adam has developed an instinctive understanding of local and offshore conditions, targeting everything from Striped Bass and shark to offshore tuna. His experience allows him to consistently put guests in the right place at the right time.
As captain, Adam sets the tone on board. He leads with preparation, professionalism, and safety, ensuring the crew works seamlessly so every trip runs smoothly and guests can focus on enjoying the day.
Captain Adam’s two daughters refer to him as “Captain Daddy.” Some of his most meaningful moments happen on the water with his family—whether it’s being hooked up on a tuna offshore with dolphins and whales moving through the spread, or watching his daughters light up after landing a big fish.
Adam’s goal on every charter is to deliver a safe, professional, and memorable experience—putting guests on fish while creating moments that last well beyond the dock.
John DeFelice, First Mate
John grew up on the water on Long Island, where fishing was part of everyday life from a young age. Owning his own boat early on taught him how to read conditions, run offshore safely, and put in the time required to consistently find fish—foundational lessons that shaped his respect for the ocean.
After relocating to New Jersey, John continued pursuing offshore fishing with a strong focus on tuna and other pelagic species. He’s experienced in all aspects of deck work, from rigging and setting spreads to gaffing fish and staying dialed in during long offshore days.
As first mate, John takes pride in working hard, staying sharp, and supporting the captain and crew to keep every trip running efficiently. His attention to detail and steady presence on deck help ensure a smooth, productive experience for everyone on board.
As a father of three, fishing is something John is proud to share with his family. One of his favorite memories is watching his oldest child catch their first tuna aboard Legasea—a moment that perfectly reflects what these trips are all about.
John’s goal on every charter is to help provide a safe, productive, and enjoyable day on the water—putting guests on fish while making sure everyone leaves with a great experience.
